A co-worker on the oil production facility Marathon Brae 'A' we were building about 60 miles off Aberdeen told me he had thrown a gleaming new set of golf clubs into a lake at Gleneagles because had been disappointed with his game that day.
I said why did he not fish them out but apparently he had bent them individually first.
This story is true. His name was Danny from Glasgow, and he was a "bomber" ie a welding inspection engineer specialising in the use of iridium isotopes for crack detection.
